Where People Come Together to Solve Problems
Farmers in the Field Photo ContestDuring the past two years, Tehama Together's Community Food Alliance, with funding from the Tehama County Arts Council, sponsored the Farmers in the Field photo contest to recognize local, independant farmers of Tehama County who make their products available to the public through farm stands, u-pick locations, farmers markets or on their farms.
For the contest twelve farmers each year were invited to participate representing a variety of products. In response to a call for photographers, ninteen volunteers responded representing the Tehama County Photo Club, a 4-H chapter. Professional photographers and local photography interested individuals. Photographers, after being matched with farmers, visited the famers and did a photo shoot of the farmers in their fields.
In mid-October each year, the photos were exhibited at the River Park Farmers Market when shoppers cast ballots in selecting four Winners Choice photos. During the following week, each year, all farmers and photographers were honored at a reception at the Tehama County Visitors Center during whci the Winners Choice recipents were announced.
Later in the fall, all photographer's works were reproduced by Walker Printing as post cards for marketing.
